The Very Blustery Day

Just like in Winnie the Pooh, today was a very blustery day!! More importantly, it was also a very special day for Laura and Rich, the new Mr & Mrs Baker, as it was the day of their gorgeous wedding.

I had met Laura over a year ago when she was in work-mode as a mobile hairdresser getting Marita’s (another client of mine) hair ready for her big day!! We had got on really well at the time and I was delighted when she asked me if I would take the photographs on her wedding day.

Laura and Rich’s ceremony was beautifully intimate and particularly emotional when Laura was given away by her eldest son, Samuel!! When the vows had been made we headed out in to the grounds for an extra challenging confetti shot - timed between ferociously gusty of wind!

The bride and groom arrived at the reception venue, Taylors Farm Retreat in Capel near Dorking Surrey, in style, travelling in a super cool refurbished “V-dub Camper Van”. The barn looked perfect, decked out with hundreds of fairy lights hanging from the oak beams and the grounds were brought to life in the August sunshine. Laura and Rich had thought of all the small details but I have to say they had saved the best for last; after the guests had finished their meals they were asked to all head outside for desert. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw “Olive” - a beautifully refurbished 1960’s vintage-style caravan owned by Mark and Kate of Caravanilla. What more could you possibly want after a long day of taking photos than a salted caramel ice cream!?!

Back inside, full of ice cream, the evening guests were starting to arrive and DJ and general superstar compere Graham (Broad Entertainments) was getting everyone moving with some classic tunes not to mention his amazing LIVE (!!) rendition of “My Girl”. With the sun setting outside the lights and glow-sticks lit up the dance floor nearly as brightly as this gorgeous couples smiles as they and their friends danced the night away.

At the beginning of the day I think we were all a bit concerned about the unseasonably windy weather but as it turned out it was Rich that swept Laura off her feet and this gorgeous families love for each other that blew me over.

Thank you to both Laura and Rich for letting me be part of your day, it will certainly live long in the memory and I wish you all the best as you start the next chapter of your lives as Mr & Mrs.
